Heat sequencers are designed to activate and deactivate heating coils in your furnace, to prevent excessive power spikes. If your heat sequencer fails, it can cause serious damage to your furnace, and cause overheating. 

When replacing your heat sequencer, make sure to match up the locations of the terminals, as well as the specifications on your heat sequencer.
