Five Ways To Clean Your Oven

Our new stove works great, but you can see every stain and grease mark. I am learning (the hard way) that conventional stovetops have a reputation for being a pain to clean. Granted, my wife does most of the leaning, but if your wife is not happy, no one is happy.

McCombs Supply has five ways to make sure that no matter who is doing the cleaning there is a happy home.

Cleaning the stovetop will be easier after you read these five tips.

1. Commercial Oven Cleaner

For gas stovetops, oven cleaner works well. Put the removal parts on a newspaper in a well-ventilated area or place outside your home and spray with a commercial oven cleaner. 

• Leave the parts coated for a couple of hours or overnight.
  

  

  Next scrub the burners in hot water with soap. For coated grates, use the soft side of a cloth. For non-coated grates, use the rough side of a sponge. Let the piece dry completely before you put them back in place.

  2. Soap and Water
  
  As basic as meat and potatoes, soap and water cleans the easy stains.
  Make sure to remove the electric burners from your stovetop. Use a damp wash cloth and small amount of mild soap and clean any residue from the coils.
  
  Mix a paste of water and baking soda to remove any cooked-on food debris. After about 30 minutes, scrub and rinse the surface burner. Put it back in place once it is dry.

  3. Baking Soda and Lemon
  
  Baking soda is a very effective cleaning agent and can be used with table salt, as well as lemon. Lemons are great for grease cutting, and baking soda contains small particles that help remove baked-on stains, bu is gentle enough not to hurt glass.
  
  Use about a handful of baking soda on a glass stovetop and then rub the surface with a slice of lemon. Wipe the area with a damp cloth and remove any leftover lemon pulp or baking soda.
  
  4. Vegetable Oil Or Olive Oil
  
• Yes, oils are notorious for the messes and stains they can cause, but did you know they are also phenomenal for undoing stains and messes? The oils lubricate the caked-on messes. 
  
  Pour a little olive oil or vegetable onto your stovetop. Use a cloth and scrub the oil into the grime until it loosens. Then spray it with all-purpose cleaner.This works great on the hood of your stove as well as on other  range hood parts for your stove. 
  
  

  

  
  
  
  
  5. White Vinegar
  
  I saved the best for last. I recently learned how effect white vinegar is for cleaning. It is the champion cleaner. Just mix one part white vinegar with two parts tap water in a spray bottle and spray the mixture on your glass cooktop.
  
  Wipe with a soft cloth. The acidity in the vinegar should remove the stain or grime. This solution can be used for daily cleaning around your kitchen.
