WE NOW HAVE ICE IN THE FREEZER BUCKET - We ordered a replacement ice maker unit from McCombs Supply because the price was right (around $50 including shipping) and it was a match to the old one that froze up water delivery and quit making ice in the old unit. The only small glitches were: the old cup that catches water from the water line at the back of the unit didn't fit the new unit's fitting, so as your instructions read, use the new one instead. And removing the "stripper plate" which looks to be the part of the unit that separates or strips the ice cubes from the freezing phase to then push the ice into the holding bucket — It was a bit hard to remove it to replace with the OLD stripper plate. Why replacing a new part with another old one is recommended, in strong words, "must remove," I have no idea. Anyway, since all was quiet inside the freezer when the water was turned back on and the fridge plugged in and it took time for water to freeze into cubes, we had no idea if it was working. As time went on I wondered if the water inlet valve had failed and that was the real problem. BUT after 45 minutes or so, a loud tumbling sound came from the kitchen. WE HAVE ICE!
