Need a GE Washing Machine Drain Pump Motor Replacement?

A washing machine drain pump motor is a crucial component in modern washing machines, responsible for pumping out the water from the wash tub during and after the wash and rinse cycles.

Average Life Span: A washing machine drain pump motor typically has an average life span that ranges from 5 to 10 years, depending on factors such as usage frequency, water quality, and maintenance. Heavy usage, hard water, and lack of regular maintenance can shorten its life span.

Signs of Potential Washing Machine Motor Breakdown:

  1. Water Not Draining: If your GE washing machine completes its wash or rinse cycle but the water remains in the tub, it indicates that the drain pump motor might be malfunctioning or completely failed.
  2. Unusual Noises: Loud or unusual noises during the drain cycle, such as grinding, humming, or squealing, can indicate that the drain pump motor is struggling or has debris obstructing it. This could signify wear and tear or potential damage to the motor.
  3. Error Codes: Modern washing machines, such as GE washers often display error codes when there is a problem. If the machine shows a code related to drainage issues, it’s a clear indication that the drain pump motor should be inspected.
  4. Slow Draining: If the washing machine drains water very slowly, it could suggest that the drain pump motor is weakening or there is a partial blockage in the pump or drain hose.
  5. Burning Smell: A burning smell during the drain cycle can indicate that the motor is overheating or there is electrical failure within the motor, necessitating immediate attention.
  6. Leaks: Water leaks during the drain cycle can sometimes be traced back to issues with the drain pump motor or its connections. This might indicate a need for repair or replacement.

When it arrived the mount was broken at the base unit where the two ports are. I used the old mount piece to make it work
