I hired an appliance man to install it for me. It took about 20 or 30 minutes and I'm very satisfied it was not an oem part but is exactly like the one that came out. Thanks Mike Mullen
Local sub zero appliance repair company gave me an estimate of $800 to replace a leaking ice maker on my Sub zero model 642 refrigerator. Found the exact part number for the ice maker online for $70 and installed it myself. Took less than an hour and a half and saved me $700. Only minor problem was that the water receptacle on the new ice maker is slightly smaller than the original allowing some water to splash into the ice bin during the refill cycle. Used a small piece of mylar placed inside the receptacle increasing the height about 1/4 " thereby preventing any splash. Ice maker works like a champ!!!!
Not an exact drop-in replacement. Had to make some annoying but minor adjustments to get it to fit nicely. The real hassle was getting the original unit out - the bottom retention screw stripped under hand screwdriver. Had to cut through with multi tool...but now it's making cubes like it was on steroids!
