Need A Draft Inducer Blower?
Jerry Simms had two questions: Can you sell me an inducer and can you have it to me by tomorrow?
The Answer: Yes and yes.
McCombs Supply has a large selection of draft inducer motors and McCombs can ship next day air or two-day air.
Simms said it is getting cold in Ann Arbor, Michigan, after a warm fall. When he went to turn on his furnace he did not hear the draft inducer kick in (normally you hear the inducer fan whirring a few second before the furnace roars to life.
After a fairly warm autumn in the northeast, it is starting to get cold outside, especially in the evening. Households are turning on the heat in their homes for the first time in a long time and are noticing a problem.
The furnace is not working correctly. The draft inducer is not working or not working correctly.
An inducer blower is one of the those parts in a home or building you take for granted and don’t think about until something goes wrong with it.
What Is A Draft Inducer?
The draft inducer blower assembly is essentially a small
motor powered by electricity, a fan and an
electrical box that allows connections to a metal sleeve that surrounds the fan assembly.
The draft inducer blower’s purpose is to move air and gasses out of the furnace and up through the chimney.
How much and how fast air will move through the heat exchange unit is determined by the component.
You know it is running because you can hear the inducer fan spinning in the 30-60 seconds before the furnace fires to run.
In addition, the draft inducer blower is clearing the heat exchanger of any remaining gas leftover from the previous cycle. This allows for cleaner air at the time of combustion.
The draft inducer blower is also responsible for the quantity of air actually moving through the heat exchanger.
In this sense, it aids in venting your boiler or furnace. This allows for cleaner air at the time of combustion.
A furnace combustion draft inducer blower is a relatively new component of modern furnaces that became part of heating units after government-mandated efficiency standards were enacted.
