Product is in and working good for now. Disappointed that McCombs shows it as a model IM597 but when you remove the end cover it is a 'RIM' which is less expensive from other suppliers. Thought I was getting a higher quality Icemaker since it was designated as a Whirlpool #2198597. Regardless, these newer icemakers in my opinion are not made correctly. If you have full size ice cubes everything is fine most of the time. If your ice cubes are smaller for a variety of reasons (filter life, water pressure...) then they will jam up the machine and eventually the motor fails. I think the forked ice cube slider should be closer to the flipper to accommodate the smaller cubes. We do live in the country and on our own well so water pressure varies from the low to high setting on the pump. Tired of buying a new icemaker every year.
Came with wiring harness that did not match the connection in the fridge. Ended up using old wiring harness.
I bought this icemaker to put into a 2005 KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator. It works correctly. Instructions are somewhat generic, and the kit included a plastic mounting piece not applicable for my fridge. Instructions Step 5 imply that the wiring harness in the kit does not include a thermal fuse, but it does (and the web description is correct about this). Step 6 references removing a knock-out piece, but my original didn’t have the knock-out so I disregarded the step. A reminder, the fridge manual says to discard the first three batches of ice to “flush out impurities” from manufacture. The manual, and the replacement kit instructions, say to allow up to 24 hours for the icemaker to begin producing ice, but I had ice in 90 minutes.
Will begin looking for a new fridge. I consider the death of the icemaker as a foreshadowing of compressor failure after seventeen years.
My first purchase from McCombs, a success.

Seems to be working fine so far. Time will ultimately tell if it's a quality replacement part or not.
Ice maker was easy to install and was an exact replacement for the defective one.
