My original valve lasted ten years. A replacement from another source lasted a little over one year. It can happen but tend to think it was inferior quality. This time I did a little more research, found and purchased this Robertshaw valve. It looks exactly like the original I kept for some reason. Perhaps the Robertshaw valve is the OEM source for WHIRLPOOL? Just arriving in a professional package inspires some confidence. Installation is easy & quick. Unlike the unknown source replacement that failed, this one is nearly silent with reassuring solenoid snaps for the water and ice solenoids instead of a buzz. This is a great start that gives me a greater confidence that it will provide a reasonable life which is all we can ask of any moving part.
