The motor was not the one I needed for my Whirlpool dryer, because of the loading bracket. I sent an email asking what I should do to fix the problem.

I just installed this kit about a week ago, and it has been working perfectly. I don't have information about any longer term reliability, but it is operating smoothly and quietly now. The really nice thing about McCombs is they called to verify I was getting the correct motor. Turns out I had copied the motor number from another website, but that site had suggested the wrong motor! I was impressed that McCombs caught my error and alerted me to this prior to shipping.
I don't know what happened exactly. The items came within a week, as advertised. I was happy. I installed everything. It worked and I felt proud and grateful. Then, within a month, the drum wouldn't turn when pushing to start. You'd hear the motor buzz. We figured out that we had to take the top lid off the dryer and push the drum to get it going. This worked fine for months, though slightly inconvenient. (The wife hated it). Then, this week, about 5 months after purchase, the wife went to push the drum to get it going, and the thing smoked. It seemed like more of a rubber burning smell than electrical. We're going to give up on it. It's a 15 year old dryer. I invested about $80 in these parts. I guess we got a good 5 months out of the deal. I don't want to put any more money into this machine. Time to start shopping for a new one. Still, McCombs Supply was great--inexpensive and expedient.
