Spent hours trying other methods to get the retaining ring in place.
Used this tool to stretch a Maytag Neptune Washer Spring from 3" to ~ 7". This is impossible to do without this tool. Much better than using a spring stretching wrench as this tool keeps the spring stretched while manipulating the spring into position to connect to the cable eyelets. Once the eyelets are connected the spring can be slowly released with the thumb wheel on the tool which allows for constant confirmation of the alignment of the cable to the bellows groove.
One can simply not stretch a spring by hand around the arc of the tub while keeping the cable and bellows aligned.
For three weeks, I couldn't get the outer washer boot spring clamp on my Whirlpool Duet Washer. I was about to throw in the towel until I saw this. I wish it was available at my local stores to save the shipping and time. It really works!
