In honor of National Peach Month, McCombs Supply offers a burner to help make canning peaches easier

In 1982, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed August "Peach Month" and called upon the American people to incorporate more of the nutritious fruit into their diet. 

Like the scene in "Forest Gump" where Bubba is naming off the ways to make/eat shrimp, there are a ton of different recipes for cooking peaches, including grilled peaches zezebel, peach upside down cake, grilled peach mozzarella salad, peach muffins, and of course, the two most famous ways, peach pie and peach cobbler.

Canning peaches is great way to preserve this fabulous fruit throughout the year. With the proper equipment, the canning process does not need to be frustrating or time consuming. 

Do you have trouble with your burner not being able to handle the weight of the peaches in the pan?

What makes this burner special? 

The burner has an extra heavy duty bracket that is 3/4" wide to support large heavy pots and pans. 

It is 2600 watts, 5 turn (the turns is the number of times the coil goes around in a circle), and two prong plug in connection.

This burner's eye works well with Whirlpool and Frigidaire stoves and fits most brands, except GE. 

Does it work? 

Jacqueline Martin wrote on Aug. 7 on  McCombs' website that she recommends the MP26Ka, after searching for a larger burner for years. 

"We have been complaining about canning with a regular burner and a big pot or water bath pot for years," She wrote. "We finally went online to find this one from McCombs with a reasonable price. We love it and would recommend it to anyone."

Peach Comber Recipe 

We added a peach comber recipe, courtesy of  Southern Living

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 cups sugar, divided
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• Pinch of salt
• 1 cup milk
• 4 cups fresh peach slices
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
  
  
  

  How to Make It

  Step 1
  Melt butter in a 13- x 9-inch baking dish.

  Step 2
  Combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour batter over butter (do not stir).
  

  Step 3
  Bring remaining 1 cup sugar, peach slices, and lemon juice to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly; pour over batter (do not stir). Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired.

  
  Step 4

  Bake at 375° for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve cobbler warm or cool.
  

  Chef's Notes

  This dessert is perfect for entertaining guests on a summer night or even during the middle of the day at a cookout. Fresh peaches make this dish absolutely delicious. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy.
